What's a bug? And what's debugging?

The dictionary defines a computer bug as:
An unwanted and unintended property of a program or piece of hardware, especially one that causes it to malfunction.
E.g. "There's a bug in the editor: it writes things out backwards." The identification and removal of bugs in a program is called 'debugging'.
Simply put, a bug is a coding error in a computer. The process of finding bugs before program users do is called debugging. Contrary to popular belief, debugging accounts for most of the time programmers spend developing their code (it has been estimated that debugging accounts for 90% of the time it takes to write a program). After a product is released or during public testing, bugs are still apt to be discovered.
